The unusual hydrodynamical behaviour of freshwater oncolites

1997

Algal concretions are frequent in calcareous environments, occuring as individual particles (oncolites) that are easily transported during floods. Several parameters have been measured and calculated for a population of 127 particles from French streams. These oncolites have a high porosity (mean 42.7%) and a low density (mean 1.65), in respect to quartz and calcite. Oncolites have a settling velocity 1.5 times lower than that of quartz grains with the same nominal diameter. The computation of multiple correlations results in a classification in terms of decreasing efficiency: shape coefficients (Corey, ψ, and SI of Sneed and Folk), nominal diameter, density, edge sharpness and roughness. Using the factorial experiment method to analyze the corrosion protection process

2017

The organization functions are: research-development, production, commercial, financial-accounting, personnel and quality. In this paper the factorial experimental method will be applied, which is currently one of the most widespread methods used in the research-development departments of the organizations, due to its advantages and efficiency. The experiment was carried out at SC Coifer Impex SRL-Mirsa’s metal structures factory. In this paper it is presented the factors modelling that exerts their influence on two objectives functions: the ensuring the nominal thickness of the rough-cast film and the consumption limiting. For data processing the STATISTICA 7 software was used which provid…

Dimensional variability of nonstandardized greater taper finger spreaders with matching gutta-percha points

2001

Aim The purpose of this research was to determine the compatibility and dimensional variability between nonstandardized gutta-percha points and matching finger spreaders. Methodology The diameters of nonstandardized gutta-percha points (n = 15) and matching finger spreaders (n = 15) from different manufacturers (Kerr, Dentsply Maillefer, Vereignigte Dentalwerke and Roeko) were determined and statistically analysed using a profile projector under a magnification of 50 × (±0.002 mm). Results The dimensions of the finger spreaders and gutta-percha cones were inconsistent. Of the 29 groups of nonstandardized gutta-percha cones evaluated, 22 had standard deviations larger than 0.020 at D1. The s…
